Today we had an assignment 'to drift'. The large group of 45 students either paired off or stayed single and pulled sites out of a hat. We then had to navigate around the city to locate our destination. My destination was Place d' Aligre. Its a market plaza in the 12th arr. on the East side of Paris. When we arrived the market was just shutting down and the gleaners were waiting. I was paired up with a student that is in my class that could get lost in a paper bag, so I showed her the ropes of how to NOT get lost using the metro system.
After we watched the vendors close shop we walked around the surrounding neighborhood. It was quiet and residential. The quiet little side streets opened up to larger quicker area where Jen and I feasted on sweet pastries.
Today was a slower, less hectic day and tomorrow marks the first day of class, our first museum.....The Louvre.
I'm so glad you are doing this. I look forward to learning more about Paris from you're experiance (and about you too)!!!!! steve
